Lecturer and Bioinformatics Specialist Hüseyin GÜNER
I studied physics at Middle East Technical University and worked at Human Proteomics Program and Mass Spectrometry facility at University of Wisconsin Madison for 7 years as a bioinformatics specialist and data analyst. I have built a data visualization and analysis software suite for mass spectrometry based proteomics data. This software, Mash Suite, is used by several research groups in top-down proteomics community ın Europe and United States. I have contributed to numerous proteomics and metabolomics projects using extensive data analysis tools mostly developed in-house and applying multivariate statistics. I am interested in clinical bioinformatics applied to translational proteomics and in particular understanding of the roles of proteoforms in diversity and functionality of proteins in health science. I work on top-down mass spectrometry based proteomics and metabolomics projects. Recently I engaged in comparative genomic and evolutionary assessment of potential genes for rare diseases. I am a big fan of Linux and lazy programmer.
