Asst. Prof. Dr. Emel Başak GENCER AKÇOK
I studied Biochemistry at the Ege University, Izmir, Turkey, which I completed in 2008. Thereafter I joined the laboratory of Prof. Yusuf Baran in Izmir Institute of Technology for my master studies. There I studied on chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and combinational drug therapies. In 2011, I became a member of Prof. Oliver Hantschel to obtain a PhD in Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) which is located in Lausanne, Switzerland. In my PhD, I worked on CML as well and studied on the perturbation of molecular signaling pathways to target CML cells with another aspect by using engineered small antibody mimic called monobodies. I started as Faculty member in Abdullah Gül University (AGÜ) in April, 2018. My aim is to work on cancer signaling pathways and try to interfere with the signaling.
I was born and raised in Kuşadası, Turkey. I am married and I have a daughter.
